Domaine Johanna Cécillon

Johanna and Louis Cécillon established their cidery in 2011 after purchasing 8 hectares of traditional high-stem apple orchards in the Breton villages of Sévignac and Trédias. Johanna comes from a family with generations of cidermaking history in Brittany, while Louis is descended from a renowned winemaking family in Saint-Joseph and is the nephew of Jean-Louis Grippat. Bringing together these two traditions, they have developed one of France's most distinctive artisanal cider estates.

Today the estate comprises 8 hectares of orchards and 3 hectares of meadows, farmed organically and harvested entirely by hand. Fourteen indigenous apple varieties, ranging from sweet and sharp to bittersweet, are vinified separately using only wild yeasts before blending. Fermented by the ancestral method, without added sulphur or enzymes and bottled without disgorgement, the ciders express the character of Brittany's historic orchard terroirs with remarkable precision and finesse.
