Les Vins du Clair Obscur
Biodynamic Côte de Beaune wines from Pierre and Jennifer Clair.
Founded in 2006 by Pierre Clair, Domaine Clair Obscur builds on more than 60 years of the Clair family's history in the Côte de Beaune. Although the family had long owned vineyards around Chassagne-Montrachet and Puligny-Montrachet, the parcels had traditionally been leased out until Pierre took them back under family management.
Together with his wife Jennifer, he has since expanded the domaine to 3.5 hectares, adding vineyards in Maranges and farming every parcel according to organic and biodynamic principles. Guided by a philosophy of respecting both the vineyard and the wine, Pierre draws on experience at leading biodynamic estates including Domaine Marquis d'Angerville and Domaine de Montille, producing wines with minimal intervention and only a small addition of sulphur at bottling.
